The Raceday Stewards reviewed K.M. Donoghue's whip use in the closing stages, where he appeared to strike Herja with his whip. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that this was accidental and that no further action was warranted.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sixandahalf, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Midnight Eagle, trained by Andrew McNamara, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed the riders first approach to the starter and were satisfied that Stuntman Steve had broke into a canter despite the riders best efforts and that no further action was warranted.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Down Around trained by Gordon Elliott was found to have blood at both nostrils post race, possibly as a result of falling.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Wing Back, trained by S. Curling, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Swing Time, trained by V. T. O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame left fore post race.

K.M. Donoghue, rider of Kalsman, trained by Liam Lennon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he was hampered shortly after the start of this race when the horse in front of him was very slowly away. He further added that his mount made a mistake at the first and he felt his chance was over and pulled up shortly afterwards.

A. Balfe, rider of Malton Groove, trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled and subsequently pulled up.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Sam Ewing, rider of Mobile Mamma, concerning his use of the whip at the start of this race. Sam Ewing stated that his mount was reluctant to start and used his whip at this time, in order to get it to start. Having considered the matter the Raceday Stewards took no further action in relation to his reason for using the whip. Subsequently to the hearing being concluded, the Raceday Stewards, were made aware of a matter which, had it been known at the time of the hearing may have had a bearing on their findings and subsequently the matter was referred to a Senior Racing Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 14(ii)(b).

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Evan Nugent, rider of Three Tribes, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had exceeded guidelines for the correct use of the whip. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied the rider was in breach of Reg.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for five racedays.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an where Wing Back, ridden by P.T. Enright, was slightly hampered by Mobile Mamma, ridden by Sam Ewing, who was slowly into stride Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards fined William P Murphy, trainer €65 for failing to fit the declared cheek pieces to Revolut Ned prior to entering the parade ring.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed the riders first two approaches to the start and having consulted with the IHRB Starter, they were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that A. Harvey, rider of Mini Getaway, weighed in at 1.2lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who had with him a saddle pad which he stated was different than the one he weighed out with and must have been changed at saddling. Evidence was also heard from M M Lynch, the trainer concerned who stated that the saddle handed to him by the rider did not fit his charge comfortably and he changed it for a similar pad that was slightly larger. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards took no further action in relation to A. Harvey. They were, however, satisfied that the trainer M M Lynch had contributed to the overweight (.4 of 1lb) and in accordance with the provisions of Rule 148.(i) they cautioned him on this occasion.

For this race meeting, the Raceday Stewards suspended the ‘Starting Procedures for Tape Starts’, and the IHRB suspended Rule 208 (i) and Rule 209 (i).


Owing to the low lying sun, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for fences one, two and three to be omitted from races six and seven.
